Five Handy Tips For Mac Users

I have been using mac computers since I was about five, so I like to think I know a fair bit about how to use them. Today I am going to show you five handy things on your mac you may not know you could do (Or you just didn’t know how to do them).

1. Screenshot

This one you may already know how to do, but I think this is probably one of the most asked questions for mac users, maybe you just recently bought a mac and are not quite sure of how to do everything, or maybe its just one of those things you have never learned to do. Nonetheless I will show you how.

1. Hold down these buttons on your keyboard (in order): (Command), Shift, and the number 4.

2.Drag over the area you want to screenshot. When you release the mouse, it will take a screenshot and automatically save it to your desktop.

2. Force Quit

You may already know how to quit an app by holding down  and Q, but sometimes when an app is not responding, doing this does not accomplish anything. This next tip I am going to show you deals with that problem, it is a way to quit apps even when they are not responding.

1. Hold down ⌘, Option (alt), and Escape. This window should appear:
2. Select the app you would like to close, and Wala! The stubborn app that was not responding is closed because of your mad computer knowledge.

3. Money Conversion
Ever been shopping online and you find something your interested in but it does not show your currency? Sure you could google it, but I find this method way quicker.

1. Press and Space. It should open this window.
2.You may or may not be familiar with this window. This as you can see is Spotlight Search. This on it's own is a handy tip, but I am showing you something you can do in Spotlight Search. Type in the amount of money the item costs (make sure to add the dollar sign in front) and it will convert it to your currency automatically.

4. Emojis
Everyone loves emojis, your friends, you aunts and uncles, your grandparents, heck even your dog loves emojis. Their for everyone. Now, strangely enough I think a good chunk of mac users don't even know how to type emojis, but let me tell you it is by far the EASIEST thing on this whole list!

1. Go up to Edit and then the bottom is Emoji and Symbols. Thats it! I know, so simple. Just a quick note you can use emojis any where you can type, not just in pages, that was just the app I had open at the time.

5. Signatures
Ok, lets say you got emailed a form you need to sign. Instead of printing it out, signing it and then scanning it back onto your computer, use this tip.

1. Open the form or document or whatever it is in preview. Click the little toolbox icon that is next to the search bar.
2. Now a little toolbar should show up. Click the signature looking tool.
3. A window should drop down, click Create Signature. From here you can either write your signature with your finger on the trackpad or you can use the camera to scan a signature you have already written. Once you have done that you have that signature saved in preview for future use.
